MAST won an invited international design competition to design a new pier and public space on the river Thames in London for Fulham Football Club.

The pier will provide a new connection to river transportation for local residents and for visitors to the Fulham Football Club stadium known as ‘craven cottage’.

The system is based on simple flat pack modules made from recycled reinforced polymer. These are extremely strong and resilient and can be easily transported and assembled on location.

Fulham Pier is located on a gentle curve of the Thames, nestled between historic parklands and quiet residential areas. It takes its shape from the Thames itself the walkways and pontoon trace the bend in the river and this arc informs every detail from handrails to lighting.

Floating reedbeds are installed adjacent to the piers. these have been developed by Scottish company biomatrix to improve water quality, provide habitat for animals and to add a stunning feature to the waterside. Biomatrix Water is a ecological design company and modular ecosystem manufacturers. Their FLOATING ECOSYSTEM MODULES have multiple benefits including habitat creation, urban water scaping, water quality management and wastewater treatment. They create habitats & improve biodiversity, designing beautiful living waterscapes and natural water quality and wastewater treatment solutions which bring water to life.
